Dr. Suleiman Halasah is a research affiliate at the School of Anthropology and the Institute for Science, Innovation and Society at the University of Oxford, where he previously did postdoctoral research on water and energy management in the Middle East. Dr. Halasah also served as a research associate at the Centre for International Studies at Oxford.
Dr. Halasah co-directs the Jordan–Israel Center for Community, Environment, and Research (JICCER) at the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies. He was part of the founding group behind the Arava Power Company, a leading solar-energy company operating in Israel and other countries.
Dr Halasah holds a PhD and a Master of Science in Desert Studies from Ben-Gurion University in the Negev, Israel; and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Jordan in Amman.

More than four and a half decades of broad on-the-ground conservation experience in eastern Africa. Graduate of the University of Dar es Salaam and Australian National University. Very active conservation guardian, who chairs a number of boards of directors for conservation NGOs in East Africa. These include community forest and wildlife conservation, transboundary initiatives, and networks such as the Albertine Rift Conservation Society, Nature Tanzania – Birdlife, Community Wildlife Management Areas Consortium of Tanzania, and Tanzania Association of Foresters. John is based in Arusha, Tanzania.

Nadja’s path began with service learning and research, notably at the Attica Zoological Park in Greece and the Gaia Project. Passion for nature-inspired engineering and sustainability led her to conduct various biomimicry projects, two of which were awarded (Climathon EIT Climate-KIC Piraeus 2021 and Piraeus Blue Hackathon Day 2022). Her commitment to making a positive impact extended to fundraising initiatives for Wildlife Alliance and volunteering at the ARCHELON Sea Turtle Rescue Center. Nadja’s interest in knowledge-sharing and innovation led her to participate in the organization of the TEDxNTUA annual event, collaborating with diverse speakers and audiences. Currently, she is pursuing a degree in Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the National Technical University of Athens.
